Starry Announces Participation in the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program
Feb 10th, 2022
Having reliable, affordable broadband access at home has never been more important. We work online. We go to school online. We keep in touch with our loved ones online. However, too many families remain unconnected to the essential broadband service they need due to high costs and the lack of affordable choices.
The federal government’s new Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) was created to fill that gap, providing a $30/month subsidy towards the cost of home broadband service for eligible families. Similar to the FCC’s Emergency Broadband Benefit, the ACP was established by Congress to assist households struggling to afford the cost of connectivity and with more than $14 billion set aside for the program, the ACP will provide this monthly benefit to eligible households for many years to come.
Starry is proud to be a qualified ACP provider for our Starry Connect communities and other eligible households. For eligible households that sign-up for Starry service and opt-in to the ACP program, the benefit can cover the entire cost of broadband service for the household while the program remains in effect. For our Starry Connect communities, all households are automatically eligible for the ACP and receiving the benefit is a simple opt-in process. The ACP discount is directly applied to the customer's account.
Starry is facilitating ACP participation through educational events and community engagement activities designed to help consumers understand the benefit and how they can sign up.
